With so much coastline, daylight saving and warm weather, Australians love spending long summer days at the beach. With this article we wanted to share with you the 5 key things we think that everybody needs to pack to ensure that they have the perfect summer’s day at the beach. Check out the list below to make sure that you are properly prepared.
Make sure you are fully protected from the harsh sun
You don’t want to ruin the perfect day at the beach by getting sunburnt. So the first thing that you need to pack is the appropriate sun protection. This starts with a high quality sunscreen and a quality sun hat. For younger children you also might want to consider a rash vest. Another thing you might want to pack is one of those pop up sun tents so you and your family can get some shade throughout the day.
Make sure you have some stuff to keep you entertained
A day at the beach can only be enhanced with some great music or a good book. Pack yourself a water and dustproof bluetooth speaker, and pack a good book. When packing for “fun”, don’t forget the kids. Make sure that you pack some toys for the kids – this could be a bucket and shovel to build a sandcastle, or a ball or frisbee to play with on the beach, Just don’t get distracted from watching your children whilst reading your own book.
Make sure you have packed enough food and drink
There is usually a cafe or kiosk at most popular tourist beaches, but these can be expensive. Sure you can buy yourself and your family a treat, but if you are planning on spending significant time at the beach you will want to bring your own snacks and your own water to make sure you don’t get dehydrated. I would suggest avoiding alcohol though. Alcohol and the ocean don’t mix well.
Make sure that you have the right attire
You want to make sure that you have the right clothing and accessories for whilst you are at the beach. You want to have a swimsuit that you feel comfortable in. You want to make sure your children have a swimsuit that gives them appropriate sun protection. You want to make sure that you are all wearing appropriate sunglasses to protect your eyes. Don’t forget to pack thongs either. These will keep your feet protected in the car park whilst you may want to walk barefoot in the sand.
Make sure that you have packed the perfect beach towel
We may be a little biassed but we think that a Hammamas Turkish towel is the perfect towel for your day at the beach. They are large, meaning that they can be laid out flat to lie upon. They can also be the perfect picnic blanket for your family beach day. They are super absorbent so you can dry off easily after a dip and, most importantly, they can be used as a lightweight wrap as you travel home in the car at the end of the day.
